Dicky Dahl is an independent filmmaker and good guy living in Portland, Oregon.
He sang for the art-pop band Stratotanker in New York City, planted trees while living amongst the Mayans of highland Guatemala, and herded goats in the Spanish Sierra Nevada before turning to work on various film projects.
He co-wrote and produced The Ballad of Ramblin’ Jack, a documentary portrait of cowboy folksinger and raconteur Ramblin’ Jack Elliott that won the Special Jury Prize for Artistic Achievement at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival and received wide theatrical distribution. More recently, he’s worked as an editorial assistant on the Gus Van Sant film, Paranoid Park. And now he’s working as a freelance video editor and videographer while developing The Curio, a dramatic hybrid feature about a recent divorcee struggling to re-invent himself amidst the comparatively young social scene of a new town to the point of becoming, at least by his own perception, an object of curiosity.
